We are staying in a nearby B&B and wanted to eat here but the restaurant was fully booked. Fortunately it was possible to get some food as takeaway. My wife and I had some lamb and each a different dessert. It was just great ! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was awesome, also for a very reasonable price.
We stopped for lunch at L'Auberge Du Colvert on the 11th of September 2024. As we were travelling we didn't want a large amount so we decided to have starters. I had Terrine de canard aux girolles and my wife had Ficelle Picarde. Both were excellent and more than filling enough (particularly the Ficelle Picarde). We weakened and shared a Crème brulée which, also, was excellent. The staff were really nice. Over our table there was a good bit of philosophy in a frame on the wall. See the photo. For non French speakers it means "Cooking is the art of using food to create happiness"
Excellent stop-off on journey Between UK and Charente. Super menu and service. I wish they were open on Sunday evenings.
